But it is instantly recognisable and looks good on the broadcast. Year on year this team has virtually non existent changes to its’ livery. At the end of the day, Red Bull are a soft drink business, and they need to sell the stuff. Their branding, worldwide, is some of the most recognisable. The change from the 3 pointed star to AMG logos on the engine cover is the most prominent change and really helps this one maintain that strong presence. The teal swish graphic used down the side has become a signature of the team (even with their change from silver to black). A brand as strong as Mercedes simply tweaks their designs on a yearly bass to continue on with the brand recognition. Mercedes 2021 livery is probably the biggest step change of livery of the last 7 years for the team. I feel a darker blue could possibly look more striking and help the white logos stand out more. I hope their 2021 season is a bigger improvement than their livery. This years livery is an improvement, dropping the rainbow from the side and incorporating more black. Their change of shade mixed with a mid blue isn’t overly striking. Mclaren seem to have lost their way over the past few years. A lack of sponsors helps with the overall clean look! Mclaren The retro look for 2021 works nicely though. The keyline around the logo adds more detail that can easily get los on camera. 2021 sees a departure from their traditional look, however it still uses the clear Haas logo down the side.
Definitely not the prettiest cars on the grid, but Haas are in F1 to promote their brand. If anyone knows the parent company, Haas CNC, then they’ll know these cars have always been on brand. The Haas F1 Team have always had one of the most understated liveries on the grid. The three different shades of yellow between the Ferrari crest, Shell and UPS logos, along with the drop shadow on Ray-Ban finish off the look that may well have been done by the intern…. The green clashes with the red and will not come across well on the broadcast. This car will definitely turn heads, probably for the wrong reasons. The 2 tones of red almost looks like a mistake. In 2021 Ferrari have every colour under the sun including a horrendous shade of green. They have always mixed their red with black and white logos, and the odd yellow (usually Shell yellow). Ferrariįerrari wouldn’t be Ferrari without their traditional red livery, but their 2021 livery has been somewhat of a shock. The livery itself is very conservative, but this ties in nicely with the Aston Martin brand. Their main sponsor Cognizant takes prominence on the side pods.

By having all logos appear in plain white the team have kept the look clean and professional and 100% on brand for the newly rebranded team. The Aston Martin team carry the traditional team colours, with a highlight of pink for their previous main partner BWT. The finer details of the Alpine, Renault and E-Tech logos might get lost during the broadcast though. All the major sposnors logos and clear from the detail of the livery. Alpine’s red, white and blue looks fresh ad they have done a good job of balancing the colours, especially with the likes of Castrol whose green may have caused issues. Renault’s rebranding into Alpine in the off season has meant a clean break away from the traditional yellow and black. It is certainly a different look that works. Honda has clearly dictated their logo must be red, but this works to their advantage and stands out. Alphatauri has these highly complex parts in white. The reversing of the blue and white is at odds with the rest of the grid where darker colours (and normally straight black) are used to hide critical aero development. Their rebranding as Alphatauri saw the introduction of the matt finish and the distinct navy and white theme. The Red Bull owned Alphatauri team have always had striking liveries.
With the red and white reversed, and other sponsors in the same red the new livery is much more resolved. The team have come up with a better compromise this year, with the Orlen logo housed in a white box, and what appears to be the same shade of Alfa Romeo red. Two major stakeholders competing for coverage. This is always a dilemma faced by designers. The red of Alfa clashed with the slightly different shade of Orlen red.
